INFOGRAPHIC POSTERS

In Fall 2024 I was enrolled in a graphics design course focusing on the visualization of information. There were two core assignments during the coursework where infographic posters were designed from research information I gathered. The Figma design tool was used to construct the posters digitally.

The first infographic poster is a historical timeline of Elizabeth Milburn Park, which is a community park adjacent to where I grew up in Cedar Park, Texas. The research for the first poster involved gathering historical events and key dates related to Cedar Park, Elizabeth Milburn the person, and the creation of this specific recreational park. This project was rewarding as I discovered the deep history that surrounds a park that is literally across the street from my home.

The second poster is a data infographic poster that provides analytical information of sound occurrences at the Black Sugar Caffé which is also located in Cedar Park, Texas. For this second poster, I visited the caffé on two different days and took detailed notes of sounds that were heard in the caffé and when those occurred. Using that data, I was then able to plot timeline charts for when those acoustic events happened as well as to analyze the frequency of the occurrences in histogram form. This assignment demonstrated the effectiveness of combining data points like temporal events with graphics like musical note icons to visualize the sound occurrence information. It was also rewarding to demonstrate basic analytical skills as part of a project effort.

These infographic posters were done purely as academic studies and are not affiliated with Elizabeth Milburn Park nor the Black Sugar Caffé. When viewing these images digitally, please keep in mind that they are meant to be perceived as large format posters and so smaller displays like on a mobile phone or tablet may not be optimal to capture the bull breadth and resolution in a single overall view.
